No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Government Code to provide voter registration application forms to certain discharged Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) inmates. Under the provisions of the bill, before discharging certain inmates, TDCJ shall determine whether an inmate is eligible for registration as a voter pursuant to the Election Code. If the inmate is eligible for registration, TDCJ shall provide to the inmate an official voter registration application form. TDCJ has determined the bill would not result in a significant fiscal impact to the State. The bill would take effect September 1, 2013.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
