No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Government Code as it relates to reporting requirements and other information in connection with an award under the Texas Emerging Technology Fund. The bill would require the Texas Emerging Technology Fund Annual Report to contain information on the total number of projects, instead of each individual project, receiving funding from the Texas Emerging Technology Fund. Additionally, a criminal history background check for an entity applying for an Emerging Technology Fund award would remain in place for five years.
The Office of the Governor and the Department of Public Safety indicate the provisions of the bill could be implemented with existing resources.
The bill would take effect on September 1, 2013.
