TO: | Honorable Tan Parker, Chair, House Committee On Corrections |
FROM: | Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board |
IN RE: | HB528 by Turner, Sylvester (Relating to the restriction of access to the records and files of a child charged with or convicted of certain fine-only misdemeanor offenses.), As Introduced |
The bill would expand confidentiality of records relating to a child who is charged with or convicted of a fine-only misdemeanor offense other than a traffic offense. Current law provides that the records of a child who is convicted of and has satisfied the judgment for an offense; the bill would remove the requirement that a judgment be satisfied.
The bill would also make confidential records relating to a child whose conviction for a fine-only misdemeanor other than a traffic offense has been appealed, rather than requiring that it be affirmed.
