April 16, 2013

TO:
Honorable Lois W. Kolkhorst, Chair, House Committee on Public Health

FROM:

IN RE:
HB598 by Zerwas (Relating to a prohibition on the use of a tanning facility by a minor.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Chapter 145 of the Health and Safety Code, related to a prohibition on the use of a tanning facility by a minor. The bill would remove requirements for parental consent for a minor to use a tanning device and would prohibit a tanning facility from allowing a person younger than 18 years of age to use a tanning device. The Department of State Health Services indicates that there would be no significant cost associated with implementing the bill.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
