LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 83RD LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

February 25, 2013

TO:
Honorable Larry Phillips, Chair, House Committee On Transportation

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB695 by Phillips (Relating to funding state highway markers.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Transportation Code to require the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to accept a grant or donation to assist in financing the construction and maintenance of a highway marker for specific state highway names established under Transportation Code Chapter 225, Subchapter B. The bill would prohibit TxDOT from designing, constructing, or erecting such markers unless a grant or donation is made to TxDOT to cover the costs.

Based on information provided by TxDOT, it is assumed that any costs or duties associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within existing resources and any cost savings would be directed to other highway construction and maintenance activities.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
