No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend Section 57.001 (3) of the Business and Commerce Code, as added by Chapter 979 (H.B. 1711), Acts of the 82nd Legislature, Regular Session, 2011, relating to disaster remediation contracts. The bill would define "natural disaster" to include the occurrence of widespread or severe damage, injury, or loss of life or property related to any natural cause that results in a local disaster declaration by a county judge, in addition to a disaster declaration by the governor.
