HB847 by Lucio III (Relating to the enforcement of an order to pay child support by contempt and the awarding of costs and fees in certain proceedings.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Family Code to repeal Section 157.162(d) and (e) relating to contempt of court for child support respondents and awarding of attorney fees. The Office of the Attorney General and the Office of Court Administration indicate that any costs associated with the bill could be absorbed within existing resources.

The bill would take effect immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house; otherwise, the bill would take effect September 1, 2013.

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
