LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 83RD LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 8, 2013

TO:
Honorable Byron Cook, Chair, House Committee On State Affairs

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB941 by González, Mary (Relating to state collaboration with federally recognized Indian tribes.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Government Code by adding Chapter 471 to require state agencies to collaborate with federally recognized American Indian tribes and for the Governor, or his or her designee, to meet once a year with tribes. A sample of agencies including the Office of the Governor, the Secretary of State and the Department of Public Safety indicate that any costs associated with the bill could be absorbed within the agency’s existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
