This bill would amend Government Code, Section 414.005 by directing the Texas Crime Stoppers Council to create a program that encourages individuals to report criminal activity related to the trafficking of persons and financially rewards those persons if the report substantially contributes to an arrest or apprehension.
The Office of the Governor indicates the provisions of the bill can be implemented within existing resources.
This bill would take effect immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds of each house; if not, it will take effect on September 1, 2013.
