No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Health and Safety Code to exempt all property of a dedicated cemetery from drainage fees or charges.

Local Government Impact

There could be a negative fiscal impact to a local governmental entity for the exemption of drainage fee revenue; however, the amounts would vary depending on the number of dedicated cemeteries and the amount of the fees assessed and collected.
 
Dallas and Harris counties reported no fiscal impact is anticipated. Harris County does not currently collect drainage fees.
 
The City of Austin reported the city currently collects drainage fees from nine cemeteries for a total annual amount of $121,000.
 
The City of Dallas reported the city currently collects drainage fees from 27 cemeteries for a total annual amount of $175,382. The city’s affected department’s current fiscal year budget is $44.6 million.
