No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Transportation Code to increase fines related to a misdemeanor offense for illegally passing a stopped school bus. An offense would be punishable by a fine of not less than $500 or more than $1,250, except that a person convicted of a second or subsequent offense within five years would be punishable by a fine of not less than $1,000 or more than $2,000.
