No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would add Section 229.005 to the Local Government Code to prohibit a municipality from adopting or enforcing an ordinance or other regulation relating to the private ownership, keeping, carrying transporting, licensing, or registration of an electric stun gun, a knife, or a personal defense spray. The bill would provide certain exceptions under the Penal Code, or for restricted areas as defined by the provisions of the bill.
