TO:

IN RE:
HB1349 by Larson (Relating to information that may be requested by the Department of Public Safety from a person applying for or renewing a concealed handgun license.), Committee Report 2nd House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Family Code and Occupations Code to stipulate the Department of Public Safety would not be required to request, and an applicant would not be required to provide, the applicant's social security number as part of an application for a concealed handgun license.  It is assumed the costs of implementing this bill's provision could be absorbed within current appropriations.  The bill would take effect January 1, 2014.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
