FISCAL NOTE, 83RD LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 25, 2013

TO:
Honorable Richard Peña Raymond, Chair, House Committee on Human Services

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1452 by Gonzalez, Naomi (Relating to an exemption for certain facilities that provde shelter and care to child victims of human trafficking from child-care licensing requirements.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Chapter 42 of the Human Resources Code, relating to an exemption for certain facilities that provide shelter and care to child victims of human trafficking from child-care licensing requirements.  The bill would exempt from regulation by the Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) a facility that provides shelter for not more than 15 days to children of a certain age and is operated by a non-profit organization meeting certain criteria.  Based on analysis provided by DFPS, it is assumed the provisions of the bill could be implemented within existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
