March 28, 2013

TO:
Honorable Rafael Anchia, Chair, House Committee on International Trade & Intergovernmental Affairs

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1454 by Gonzalez, Naomi (Relating to a program to educate students about Type 2 diabetes in certain school districts.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill is bracketed to apply only to El Paso Independent School District (ISD). The bill would require El Paso ISD to implement a program to have a local nonprofit diabetes prevention organization visit each district campus quarterly to educate students in grades 3 through 12 about Type 2 diabetes prevention and awareness.

Local Government Impact

The administrative cost for the district to have a local nonprofit organization visit each district campus quarterly to provide education on Type 2 diabetes is not anticipated to be significant.
