LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 83RD LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 10, 2013

TO:
Honorable Tryon D. Lewis, Chair, House Committee on Judiciary & Civil Jurisprudence

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1592 by Leach (Relating to the electronic recording of proceedings in a statutory probate court in Collin County.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Government Code to authorize the judge of a Collin County statutory probate court to authorize a proceeding to be recorded by an electronic recording device instead of by a court reporter. The judge may designate one or more persons to act as the court recorder and would be required to assign the duties and responsibilities necessary to act in that capacity to a court recorder.

The Office of Court Administration reported no significant fiscal impact is anticipated.

Local Government Impact

Because the bill would not have statewide impact on units of local government of the same type or class, no comment from this office is required by the rules of the House/Senate as to its probable fiscal implication on units of local government.
