No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Transportation Code to require a peace officer to arrest a person and take a blood specimen of the breath or blood if the officer has probable cause to arrest the person for an offense under Chapter 49 of the Penal Code involving the operation of a motor vehicle or a watercraft and the person refuses the officer’s request to voluntarily submit to the specimen.
According to the Department of Public Safety, no fiscal impact is anticipated.
