IN RE: | HB1661 by Thompson, Senfronia (Relating to child custody evaluations and adoption evaluations conducted and testimony provided in certain suits affecting the parent-child relationship; providing penalties; authorizing fees.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted |
The bill would repeal the Family Code Chapter 107, Subchapter D, relating to child social study evaluations. The bill would create new provisions for child custody evaluations and adoption evaluations.
The bill specifies that the provisions applicable to child custody and adoption evaluations do not apply to suits in which Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) is a party. DFPS reports that the bill will not have a fiscal impact on the agency, and it is anticipated the bill could be implemented within existing agency resources. It is not anticipated that the bill will have a significant fiscal impact on the court system.
