LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 83RD LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 23, 2013

TO:
Honorable Lois W. Kolkhorst, Chair, House Committee on Public Health

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1750 by Ashby (Relating to the development and distribution of information regarding certain breast surgeries for patients.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Chapter 86 of the Health and Safety Code and Chapter 162 of the Occupations Code relating to the development and distribution of information regarding certain breast surgeries for patients. The bill would require the Department of State Health Services (DSHS), in consultation with the advisory council established under Section 86.003 of the Health and Safety Code, to develop information on the agency website about all medically efficacious and viable alternatives for the treatment of breast cancer. Under the provisions of the bill, DSHS and the Texas Medical Board (TMB) are required to publish that information online. TMB indicates that the provisions of the bill can be implemented within existing resources. Based on the analysis provided by DSHS, it is assumed the provisions of the bill could be implemented within existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
