Honorable Harvey Hilderbran, Chair, House Committee on Ways & Means
FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
HB1815 by Lucio III (Relating to venue projects in certain counties; providing authority to adopt a tax.), As Introduced
No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would add Section 334.0021 to Chapter 334 of the Local Government Code to authorize a county with a population of more than 300,000 and less than 700,000 and located on an international border to adopt a sport and community venue tax. Based on the applicability criteria, the bill would only apply to Cameron County.
The bill would take effect immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds of all members elected to each house. If the bill does not receive the votes required to pass, the bill would take effect September 1, 2013.
Local Government Impact
Because the bill would not have statewide impact on units of local government of the same type or class, no comment from this office is required by the rules of the House/Senate as to its probable fiscal implication on units of local government.
