No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Transportation Code to authorize a municipality or a county to transfer funds from the account to be used by an attorney representing the state to compensate property owners whose property is damaged as a result of a suspect fleeing apprehension by a peace officer. Under current law, a law enforcement agency is allowed to use funds from proceeds of sales of abandoned vehicles and other motorized craft to compensate property owners whose property was damaged as a result of a pursuit.
 
According to the Office of Court Administration, no significant fiscal impact is anticipated.
