No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would create a commission to prepare for the celebration of the of the state's bicentennial. The bill would require the commission to plan and coordinate state and local activities related to the celebration of the state's bicentennial. The commission would consist of 12 members appointed by the governor, the lieutenant governor, and the speaker of the House of Representatives. The bill also requires the commission to report its activities during the preceding two-year period to the legislature before each regular session. After March 2, 2036, the commission would produce a final report indicating total contributions received, expenditures made and money remaining in the commission's possession. The commission would be abolished January 1, 2037.
