No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Election Code to eliminate the ability to cast a straight-party vote in an election and would require the Secretary of State to remove references to straight-party voting from any instructional posters or any forms of ballots it prescribes. The bill would also repeal various sections of the Election Code related to straight-party voting.
The Secretary of State indicates the provisions of the bill could be implemented within existing resources.
The bill would take effect on September 1, 2013.
