LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 83RD LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 23, 2013

TO:
Honorable Ryan Guillen, Chair, House Committee on Culture, Recreation & Tourism

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2150 by Nevárez (Relating to the classification of exotic and nongame animals. ), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend portions of the Parks and Wildlife Code relating to the classification of exotic and nongame animals. Bill provisions would remove elk from the definition of exotic animals subject to certain licensing, permitting and hunting requirements. The bill would exempt elk from certain provisions related to nongame animals. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) indicates bill provisions would not reflect a fiscal implication to the department.

The bill would take immediate effect if the bill receives two-thirds the vote in both houses.  Otherwise, the bill would take effect September 1, 2013.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
