No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Occupations Code relating to the licensing of air conditioning and refrigeration technicians.

The proposed rule changes could have a fiscal impact on higher education as technicians enroll in air conditioning and refrigeration-related programs at community and technical colleges, as well as in air conditioning engineering, refrigeration technology or engineering, or mechanical engineering programs in universities. Based on information provided by the Department of Licensing and Regulation, Board of Professional Engineers, Texas A&M University System, University of Texas System, and Higher Education Coordinating Board, it is assumed that duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.
