The bill would require the parent or person with legal control of a child under a court order to provide a school district with the child's social security number (SSN) within 30 days of enrolling the child in school.
The bill would require the school district request the Texas Education Agency (TEA) to furnish the district with a student identification number if the parent or person with legal control of a child did not furnish the district with an SSN for the child.
The bill would require a school district to submit to the Secretary of State (SOS) the number of students enrolled in the district with SSNs and the number enrolled with TEA assigned identification numbers.
