No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
This bill would amend the Election Code to allow for a signature roster maintained by an election officer at a polling place to be in the form of an electronic device approved by the Secretary of State that has certain capabilities. The bill would require the Secretary of State to adopt rules governing the processing of captured electronic signatures related to signature rosters.
The Secretary of State indicates the provisions of the bill could be implemented within existing resources.
This bill would take effect on September 1, 2013.
