LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 83RD LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 14, 2013

TO:
Honorable Tryon D. Lewis, Chair, House Committee on Judiciary & Civil Jurisprudence

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2407 by Naishtat (Relating to restoration of a person's right to purchase a firearm on termination of a guardianship.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Estates Code to specify the process for removal of a firearms disability following the restoration of a ward's capacity. The Office of Court Administration does not anticipate any significant fiscal impact to the court system resulting from the bill. The bill would take effect January 1, 2014.

Local Government Impact

The Office of Court Administration reports that the bill may result in prolonging certain county court guardianship proceedings, but anticipates that any additional workload could reasonably be aborbed within existing resources. No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
