LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 83RD LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 18, 2013

TO:
Honorable Wayne Smith, Chair, House Committee on Licensing & Administrative Procedures

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2489 by Collier (Relating to the marketing and advertising of the veterans' assistance lottery game.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Government Code relating to the marketing and advertising of the veterans' assistance lottery game. The bill would require the Texas Lottery Commission to spend an equivalent amount of its marketing and advertising budget to promote veterans' games as the commission spends on any other instant-ticket lottery game.

Based on information provided by the Texas Lottery Commission, it is assumed that all duties and responsibilities necessary to implement the provisions of the bill could be accomplished within existing resources.  The bill could result in decreased transfers to the Foundation School Fund; however, no significant impact to the state is anticipated.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
