TO:
Honorable Geanie Morrison, Chair, House Committee on Elections

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2512 by Miller, Rick (Relating to the disclosure of certain information to the secretary of state for use in voter registration or the administration of elections.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Transportation Code to require the disclosure of certain information collected by the Department of Public Safety (DPS) to the Secretary of State for purposes of voter registration or elections administration.

The Secretary of State indicates the provisions of the bill could be implemented within existing resources.

The DPS estimates there would be a minimal cost associated with implementing the provisions of the bill.

This bill would take effect immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds of each house; if not, it will take effect on September 1, 2013.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
