Honorable Garnet Coleman, Chair, House Committee on County Affairs
FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
HB2519 by Springer (Relating to the establishment, maintenance, and operation of a free county library in an unincorporated area of a county.), As Introduced
No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Local Government Code to authorize the commissioners court of a county on petition by a majority of voters, to establish a free county library for the area located outside the municipalities that maintain free public libraries.
Local Government Impact
It is assumed that a commissioners court of a county would establish a free county library only if sufficient funds were available; therefore, no significant fiscal impact is anticipated.
