IN RE: | HB2560 by Thompson, Senfronia (Relating to the duties of health care facilities, health care providers, and the Department of State Health Services with respect to care provided to a sexual assault survivor in an emergency department of a health care facility.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted |
The bill would amend Chapter 323 of the Health and Safety Code, related to the duties of health care facilities, health care providers, and the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) with respect to care provided to a sexual assault survivor in an emergency department of a health care facility. The bill would require DSHS to approve training programs relating to basic sexual assault forensic evidence collection. DSHS would also be required to post on its website a list of all hopsitals that are designated in a community-wide plan as the primary health care facility in the community for treating sexual assault survivors. The agency indicates that it would absorb any costs associated with implementing the bill.
