Honorable Harold V. Dutton, Jr., Chair, House Committee on Urban Affairs
FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
HB2606 by McClendon (Relating to an entrance examination for a position in a fire department of certain municipalities.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Local Government Code to allow an applicant for a beginning position in a fire department in a municipality with a population of more than 1.3 million and less than two million to take a second entrance exam. The Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP) would be required to administer the second exam. Based on the applicability criteria, the provisions of the bill would apply only to the City of San Antonio.
TCFP indicated no fiscal impact to the commission is anticipated. This analysis assumes TCFP could implement the provisions of the bill within existing appropriations.
Local Government Impact
Because the bill would not have statewide impact on units of local government of the same type or class, no comment from this office is required by the rules of the House/Senate as to its probable fiscal implication on units of local government.
