No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would require the executive commissioner of the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) to establish and appoint 25 members to a task force on domestic violence. The bill would require the task force to meet and report on findings related to the impact of domestic violence, health services, educational information, and coordination of services for victims of domestic violence. The bill would take effect immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house. If not, the bill would take effect September 1, 2013.
HHSC estimates there would be a minimal cost associated with implementing the provisions of the bill. The Department of State Health Services indicates any cost associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within current resources.
