HB2621 by Creighton (Relating to disclaimers of estate property by certain beneficiaries.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

This bill would amend the Estates Code to provide that beneficiaries who attempt to disclaim their inheritance must disclose whether they owe child support and may not disclaim their inheritance if child support arrears are owed. The Office of the Attorney General indicates that that any costs associated with the bill could be absorbed within existing resources.

The bill would take effect on January 1, 2014.
