TO: | Honorable Larry Phillips, Chair, House Committee on Transportation |
FROM: | Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board |
IN RE: | HB2691 by Elkins (Relating to the permissible noise level of a sound emitted from a motor vehicle audible warning device.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted |
The bill would amend the Transportation Code to stipulate that a warning device, including a horn, may not exceed a decibel level set by the Department of Public Safety. It is assumed the costs associated with implementing this provision could be absorbed within existing resources. The bill would take effect September 1, 2013.
