Honorable Jimmie Don Aycock, Chair, House Committee on Public Education
FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
HB2716 by Eiland (Relating to the investment authority of certain independent school districts.), As Introduced
No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would exempt a school district with a general fund balance greater than four times the district's average monthly operating expenses from the requirements of Subchapter A, Chapter 2256, Government Code.
Local Government Impact
This bill would provide certain school districts with more investment options. Based on the analysis of the Texas Education Agency, approximately 550 to 650 school districts could be exempted from current law requirements under the bill. Any administrative costs would be dependent on the number and types of investments and would be voluntary on the part of the district.
