TO:
Honorable John Whitmire, Chair, Senate Committee on Criminal Justice

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2719 by Guillen (Relating to collecting and reporting information concerning inmates who have been in the conservatorship of a state agency responsible for providing child protective services and concerning inmate parole, reentry, and integration.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Government Code to require the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) to collect and report information concerning the number of inmates who have been in the conservatorship of a state agency responsible for providing child protective services. The bill would amend the Government Code to require the Texas Department of Criminal Justice's (TDCJ) parole division and reentry and integration division to jointly prepare and submit to the Legislature an annual report each fiscal year that includes specified information about TDCJ's parole, reentry, and integration efforts and activities. TDCJ and the Department of Family and Protective Services have determined that the bill would not result in a significant fiscal impact to those agencies.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
