FROM: | Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board |
IN RE: | HB2727 by Oliveira (Relating to consistency of venue for benefit disputes.), As Introduced |
The bill would amend the Labor Code to specify the venue for judicial review of certain medical disputes. The Office of Court Administration and State Office of Administrative Hearings (SOAH) anticipate no fiscal impact to the court system or SOAH resulting from the bill, respectively. The Office of Injured Employee Counsel anticipates no significant fiscal impact resulting from the bill. The Texas Department of Insurance reports that an administrative rule may be amended as a result of the bill, but that any additional workload could be absorbed within existing resources.
The change in law would apply only to suits filed after the bill's effective date. The bill would take effect September 1, 2013.
