IN RE:
HB2752 by Larson (Relating to the development and operation of advanced brackish desalination projects.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Water Code to define an advanced brackish desalination project. The bill would provide that such projects are eligible for financing from the Water Development Board (WDB) and would provide conditions for electricity transactions related to brackish desalination. The WDB indicates bill provisions would not result in a fiscal implication to the agency.
The bill would take effect September 1, 2013.
Local Government Impact
The bill would allow an advanced brackish desalination projects to receive funding from the Texas Water Development Board. This could provide new revenue to desalination projects owned by local governments, however fiscal impact is not anticipated to be significant.
