LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 83RD LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 22, 2013

TO:
Honorable Allan Ritter, Chair, House Committee on Natural Resources

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2768 by Rodriguez, Justin (Relating to the administration and judicial review of a suit involving a groundwater conservation district.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Water Code relating to the administration and judicial review of a suit involving a groundwater conservation district.

Based on information provided by the State Office of Administrative Hearings, Soil and Water Conservation Board, Commission on Environmental Quality, and Water Development Board, it is assumed that duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.

Local Government Impact

A GCD would be responsible for travel costs if a lawsuit is filed in Travis County instead of in the local county that would vary with the location of the district and the length of the case.
