IN RE:
HB2877 by Sheffield, J. D. (Relating to the applicability of certain claims for lost or damaged property by inmates to the Texas Theft Liability Act.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Civil Practice and Remedies Code relating to the applicability of certain claims for lost or damaged property by Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) inmates to the Texas Theft Liability Act. Under the bill’s provisions, a claim made by a TDCJ inmate for property lost or damaged by TDCJ’s institutional division would not apply to the Texas Theft Liability Act. TDCJ and the Office of Court Administration have determined that the bill would not result in a significant fiscal impact to the State. The bill would take effect September 1, 2013.
Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
