The bill would add a new chapter to the Civil Practice and Remedies Code to prescribe the use of standardized civil action forms promulgated by the Texas Supreme Court. The change in law would apply only to a form promulgated by the Supreme Court before, on, or after the bill's effective date that is filed in a civil action on or after the bill's effective date.
The bill would amend the Family Code as it relates to the use of standardized forms in certain suits for dissolution of marriage. The change in law would apply only to a suit for dissolution of marriage filed on or after the bill's effective date.
The bill would amend the Government Code to specify procedure and necessary notice relating to the supreme court adoption of a standardized form. The change in law would apply only to a form promulgated by the supreme court on or after the bill's effective date.
The Office of Court Administration does not anticipate any significant fiscal impact to the court system resulting from the bill. The bill would take effect September 1, 2013.
