No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill requires orthodontic services designated at certain levels under the Medicaid program in fee-for-service and managed care to be provided by dentists meeting certain requirements. The Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) would be authorized to waive these requirements in rural areas with limited access to orthodontic care. According to HHSC, the requirements of the bill are in line with current policy and no significant fiscal impact is anticipated.
