LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 83RD LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 8, 2013

TO:
Honorable Byron Cook, Chair, House Committee on State Affairs

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2945 by Davis, Sarah (Relating to the removing of the risk of breast cancer as part of a woman's informed consent for an abortion.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Chapter 171 of the Health and Safety Code relating to the removing of the risk of breast cancer as part of a woman's informed consent for an abortion. To implement the bill, the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) will be required to update informational material. The bill would take effect immediately if a two-thirds majority vote in both houses of the Legislature is received. Otherwise, the bill would take effect on September 1, 2013. Based on the analysis provided by DSHS, it is assumed that the provisions of the bill can be implemented within existing resources. Based on the analysis provided by the Texas Medical Board, it is assumed the provisions of the bill will have no fiscal impact on that agency.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
