IN RE:
HB2964 by Alonzo (Relating to certain remedies involving habeas corpus proceedings for persons improperly advised about the consequences of a plea of guilty or nolo contender and for persons affected by a change in law after entering such a plea.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure to allow the filing of an application for a writ of habeas corpus following a guilty or nolo contendere plea in certain circumstances. The Office of Court Administration reports that although the bill may increase judicial workloads, it is expected that any increase could be absorbed within existing resources, and does not anticipate any significant fiscal impact to the court system. The bill would take effect September 1, 2013.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
