HB2993 by King, Tracy O. (Relating to the creation of a game animal meat safety task force.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would create a game animal meat safety task force to study and examine trends in the commercially raised game meat industry in this state, including the current regulations and safeguards regarding game meat, and the differences in the inspection of game meats compared to the inspection of traditional meats, including beef, pork, and poultry.  The bill would also require the task force to develop a short-term and a long-term commercially raised game animal food safety plans that would have to be submitted to the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and Speaker of the House of Representatives no later than December 1, 2014.  The bill would require the task force to be composed of nine members including the chair of the House Public Health Committee or its successor; the chair of the Senate Health and Human Services Committee or its successor; the chairs of the committees of the House and Senate with primary jurisdiction over parks and wildlife; the chairs of the committees of the House and Senate with primary jurisdiction over agriculture; and three members of the public appointed by the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and Speaker of the House of Representatives that meet requirements established in the bill.  The bill would establish meeting requirements and allowances for meetings and the bill would abolish the task force on January 1, 2015

 

It is assumed that all duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished within existing resources.
