No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would add Subchapter C to Chapter 21 of the Local Government Code to provide that a member of the governing body of a general-law municipality may be removed from office through a recall election initiated by a petition, and would establish procedures for the recall election. Unless the member resigns, the governing body would be required to order a recall election on the first uniform date that occurs 78 days after the date of the order.
