Honorable Geanie Morrison, Chair, House Committee on Elections
FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
HB3076 by Miller, Rick (Relating to campaign finance reporting requirements for certain political party officials.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would repeal Election Code, Sec. 257.005 to eliminate the required filing of reports by state chairs of political parties and by county chairs of political parties, for counties with a population greater than 350,000. The Ethics Commission indicates that although the bill could result in a reduction of agency personnel time spent contacting counties for lists of candidates for county party chair, the savings would not be significant.
The bill would take effect September 1, 2013.
Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
