The bill would amend the Insurance Code relating to availability of certain benefits under individual accident and health insurance policies. The bill would repeal Section 1201.227 of the Insurance Code relating to intoxicants and narcotics. The bill would apply to individual accident and health insurance policies delivered, issued for delivery, or renewed on or after January 1, 2014.
Based on information provided by The Texas Department of Insurance, it is assumed that implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished utilizing existing staff and resources.
Based on information provided by the Teacher Retirement System, Texas A&M University System, and the UT System Administration, the bill would have no fiscal impact.
